Gov. Aregbesola faces impeachment proceedings by Osun Assembly

The Osun State House of Assembly on Thursday began impeachment proceedings against Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori after a petition by  Justice Folahanmi Oloyede.

Daily Independent reports that speaker of the assembly, Najeem Salaam, at Thursday’s plenary, inaugurated a 7-man Committee that will look into the petition.Salaam said the committee will work for two week before presenting its finding just as he urged members to work without sentiment towards the governor. A member of the House, Makinde Oladejo, representing Ife Central in the House, and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)was however unimpressed with the composition of the probe panel noting that all members were from All Progressives Congress (APC), the same party of the governor. The members of committee are Owoeye Timothy, Oladoye Folorunso, Adebayo Waseeu, Akinola Olasunkanmi, Ogunsola Oyeleke, Afolabi Olalekan and Adegboye Akintunde (chairman).
