
Yesterday, Monday, July 27, President Buhari held a meeting with the speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and other All Progressive Congress (APC) members in the House
The meeting which was reported to have ended in a deadlock was In attendance the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, national deputy chairman (South West) Segun Oni and the spokesman of the party, Lai Mohammed.
According to Daily Trust report, the meeting washeld at the new banquet hall of the Aso Rock presidential villa lasted for only 20 minutes.
According to Punch report, the meeting failed to resolve the crisis as the two factions in the House stuck to their different positions.
Gbajabiamila said: “We are still talking and this is the first time that the two camps will be sitting together as one family in an atmosphere of camaraderie.”
The national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, said the party would have a good news for the nation by tomorrow.
One of the members who attended the meeting told Premium Times that Buhari ordered the warring lawmakers to resolve all pending ahead of the resumption of plenary on Tuesday.
He said the president asked Dogara and Gbajabiamila to hold a meeting with the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun and find a solution to the problem within the next six hours.
The source who pleaded anonymity said: “He said he never wanted to interfere in the affairs of the Legislature, but he’s now forced to do so to maintain party discipline.
“The president said it is unacceptable for him to be in office under the APC, and the PDP would be allowed to dictate who occupies positions in an administration he heads.
“Buhari urged all members to look beyond themselves and consider the country and the platform under which they were elected.”
The meeting was said to have started at 5.40p.m. and ended at 6p.m.
