The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, has finally revealed what he will do to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the national oil company considered to be an underground pit of corruption.
In an interview granted by the president in Washington DC during his visit to the US, Buhari made it known that his administration plans to split the NNPC into two in a bid to reform the oil sector. He said rather than breaking the NNPC into four companies, it would be divided into two – regulator and investment vehicle.
